30 Sept 07 - The moose rut is in full swing and man has it been exciting. The number of bulls around my favorite photo spots have doubled and the action is really heating up right now. I have just returned from my first photo workshop as an instructor and I can tell you there will be more to come. Look for updates to the site in the near future!

5 Sept 07 - More fun with underwater images this month.

15 August 07 - Well, things are really picking up now. The salmon spawn is in full swing and the wildlife is getting more active. I have ventured into the underwater realm trying to photograph the entire lifecycle of the 5 main species of Salmon here in Alaska. It has been a frustrating and rewarding endeavor to say the least!

3 Jun 07 - The past month was once again pretty slow. Towards the end of may I purchased a canoe and got out with a few loons, canadian geese and ducks. I also found a great horned owl nest with two babies. The highlight of the month however was a second fly in fishing trip I was able to take with my son. There is a small gallery here with a few highlight images!

6 May 07 - In contrast with last month there is a ton of stuff happening and about to happen this month. I can see myself running out of time quickly. The days are up to almost 18 hours of light and the temps are touching into the 60s from time to time. An incredible time to be in Alaska. I was fortunite enough to find a fox den recently and have spent a considerable amount of time photographing them. Here are a few of the images!

10 April 07 - Not alot going on this month. The weather is starting to warm up some and the snow is melting off. The landscape is starting to show signs of mud and the spring thaw. Photographically this is probably the worst time of the year in Alaska. There are things to photograph and I have done my best to try and find them, but just not alot. Looking forward to the coming months and what it has in store. Spring babies, fishing trips, bears, etc. etc! My first spring in Alaska is going to be unforgettable I am sure and I will try my best to bring you along through images! Click here for the April Gallery of images.

26 Mar 07 - The last few weekends I have been on the road in Homer, Alaska photographing bald eagles. After my time with the Eagles in Eagle River, I decided I needed more! As spring approaches and the weather clears up they will quickly be moving out of the area on their migration but I think I did fairly well. Click on the image to go to the gallery.

2-3 Mar 07 - This weekend marked the start of the worlds last great race! I am referring to the Iditarod 2007. I was there for the ceremonial start as well as the restart of this years race. It was my first time shooting the race and I learned alot to use for next years race! Click on the image to see some of the images I was able to capture by following along by snow machine to the first checkpoint 37 miles in!

24 Feb 07 - Spent the entire weekend photographing Bald Eagles in Eagle River, Ak, and had a blast. It was only the second time in my life I have been around a group of eagles feeding, soaring, diving and hard banking and made for some fast action photography! Stay tuned for a new gallerie of these images coming soon!

17 Feb 07 - I finally got a little bit of a break, so I have brought the Galleries page online and hopefully will be adding quite a bit of content in the coming months. It looks like things are starting to slow down some now so I will be focusing a lot more attention to my photography.

1 Jan 07 - I hope this finds everyone having a wonderful and exciting start to thier New Year! Good luck with all that you do in the coming months!

18 Dec 06 - Starting to find my way around some and making some contacts here in the great white north. Yesterday I had a bit of free time so I decided to take a short day hike into the Powerline Pass area near Table Mountain. Normally this is a terrific area to find moose, however this time of year they typically head down to the lower elevations near the city where the food is more abundant. I was still hoping to find a straggler though, but it was not to be. The weather did not cooperate very well and niether did the wildlife, so I dicided to play around a little bit with Panoramic stitches. This is a 3 shot stitch of the valley area of Powerline.

27 Oct 06 - Had an incredibe morning photographing moose southwest of Anchorage. The scenery and wildlife around here are incredible. I will hopefully be updating the site heavily in the next few weeks so stay tuned for some new images and pages in the galleries! Here's a little taste of whats to come!

1 Oct 06 - Well, we made it safe and sound. Only major problems were a glow plug through the valve cover the morning we took off before we even lleft town and then a flat tire on the camper about 40 miles outside of Yellowstone. Other than that it was a very good trip through some of the most incredible country in the world! Look forward to getting back down throughout that route for some photography when we have alot more time!

------------------------------------------------------------

22 Sept 06 - Well, we are all packed up and ready to hit the road. We will stop off in Yellowstone for a few days to photograph the Elk rut and then on to the great white north! Hopefully we will be updating from the road but not sure how much connectivity we will have. We are camping the entire way up!

------------------------------------------------------------

1 September 06 - I have made it back to South Dakota and now the work starts. I have about a month to to get everything packed up and shipped out and our vehicles, camper and atv's ready for the 3200 mile journey through the great white north. Should be an interesting month. In that time I am also planning a trip to Custer State Park for one last South Dakota Photo opp, and also a 2-3 day jaunt through Yellowstone National park at the beggining of our journey for a last chanch at Elk during the rut. This usually takes place the last week or two of September to the first week or so of Oct, so our timing should be about perfect. Stay tuned for pics and stories of my upcoming treks

01 August 06 - 30 days left in Korea! Going to head back to South Dakota on 1 September to pack up our household and move up to Alaska! Our plans are to hit the road up with the camper around the 23-25th of Sept and arrive in Anchorage sometime the first week of October. Of course we will be camping and photographing the entire journey so I will have lots to put on the site. Between now and then I am going to try and get some more of the site up and running so stay tuned for some big changes and additions!

-------------------------------------------------------------

24 April 06 - New website is up and running, however, as of this writing I am currently on a remote assignment with the US Air Force in The Republic of Korea. While the wildlife photography here is pretty much non existent, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have a follow-on assignment to Elmendorf AFB, Alaska in mid September of 2006. This is an assignment I have tried to attain my entire 17 year career, and while korea has definitely put a damper on the photography, Alaska will surely make up for it tenfold! Stay tuned for updates and my adventures in the coming months!
